Label mangroves after Hurricane Beryl
Hurricane Beryl crossed Carriacou and Union Island, in the Grenadines, on 1 July 2024. Heft is measuring how much of the islands' mangrove has lost its canopy since then. You will look at satellite images of 200 single points and choose what happened at each one.
How it goes
- A short guide to reading the images.
- 20 practice points. After each one you see the answer.
- 20 check points with no answers shown. You need 14 right to go on.
- 160 main points.
It takes about 100 minutes in all. You can stop at any time and come back later with the same link.
What we record
For each point: the label you save, any label you picked first and changed, and how long the point was on your screen. We do not record your name or email address. In our files you are a code, such as V03.
Your labels go into a published study and its data, under your code. To withdraw, tell the person who invited you and give your code; we then delete everything recorded under it. Taking part is up to you.
Each square is 300 m across. The yellow box is the 10 m pixel you label. Tap a square to enlarge it.
